Nurture?

It happened Saturday.  I was riding my scooter home from Hobby Lobby.  I was in my parking lot, and turned on to my strip.  I was going slow.  I remember specifically thinking, “Wow, I’m actually going slow.”

That’s when it happened.  Out of no where.  A girl was there.  She couldn’t be older than 5.  She walks out from behind a car, and yells, “SLOW DOWN PUNK!!” Then, part 2 happened.  She quickly raised her right hand, and to my surprise, her middle finger.

I was shocked.  I didn’t know what to do.  (A few years ago, I may have laughed a little.)  I came to an almost complete stop, with it in my right mind to go talk to her parents.  Then I realized.  This girl is around 5 years old.  She didn’t just… learn it.  Someone had to teach her.

It made me sad.  I realize that some one taught her to say that.  A: I wasn’t going fast. B: she flipped me off.  She pretty much said “F-U” with her hands.  ugh.

I write this because I’m in shock.  Does it just take learning something for a child to do it?  When will she realize it’s not polite, or it means something that can be hurtful?  Who taught her that?  Would her parents punish her?  As a parent, how do you confront that issue?

I don’t know.. It’s sad to me.

So, it has begun. Four other bloggers (So Far) and I, have each taken a day of the week, to display a kid who needs to be adopted in a bad way.  Each kid you see on my site has been waiting at least six months!

She has been Sponsored!  Thank you to whoever you are!  This is just amazing!

Any other day of the week, find more children to sponsor by the list below!  Together, I believe we can make a difference.

A new day.

A new start, a chance at all.  Those are things I believe everyone deserves.  That is why I am joining this movement.

Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.

Founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training.

Today, Compassion helps more than 1 million children in 24 countries.

Starting tomorrow, I will be posting one child a week. (Every Tuesday) This child has gone AT LEAST six months without being adopted.  With the amount of people in this country, this should not happen!

Me, and a few other people are each taking a day, to post a child, in hopes that someone, somewhere, will be touched, and adopt.  I hope you can be that person.

Other people who are doing this are,

Toby on Mondays
caffeinatedfaith on Wednesdays
Shawn on Thursdays
Andrea on Fridays

Check them out, and sponsor one.
